Welcome to our web site!

On this home page we'll introduce our organization and highlight important areas on our site. The Doctorate in Nursing Practice is the terminal practice degree in the discipline of Nursing. DNP's are transforming care through scholarly practice!

The practice doctorate in nursing (ND) has been around since the late 1970's, however it was not until 2001 when the American Association of Colleges of Nursing put forth a call for a terminal practice degree for entry into Advanced Nursing Practice by 2015 did a whirlwind of controversy and excitement begin.  Today, there are nearly 80 schools of nursing offering the DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) with more planned.  There are essentials of DNP education that all must follow to ensure conformity around the DNP degree while allowing for flexibility in learning styles and content.

We invite you to visit us or attend an event. Our members are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the Academy and how you can join--you need not be a resident of New Jersey, our state of incorporation, and membership is open to DNP's, RNs with other doctorates and DNPs students as well as those who support the DNP.
